Ottawa, September 29, 2016 - The Association française des municipalités de l'Ontario (AFMO) (Association of Francophones Municipalities of Ontario) held its 27th Annual Conference, on September 21 and 22, in Hearst, inspired by the Local Development at the Heart of Our Communities theme. The event was marked with enthusiasm and energy in the wake of motivating innovating projects and resolutions.
For two full days, participants, municipal delegates, representatives from various ministries, officers from the public sector and partners drew up and presented their in social economy, French-language tourism, initiatives in the tourism industry, the elected members' role in economic development, the Ombudsman's watchful eye, the cost tied to the OPP, the Justice Sector, the Aggregate Resources Act, purchasing local food, innovative green projects, and collaboration as an imperative to increase the Francophone presence.
The Honourable Marie-France Lalonde, Minister of Government and Consumer Services and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, provided the Conference with her Government's view and commitment on local development.
